THE RAILING LOOM, WHAT IS IT, AND WHERE DID IT COME FROM?
The inspiration for what would become The Railing Loom first hit in 2007, when my brother Gary and I (as M Brothers Construction) were asked to build a cable railing for a very nice custom home in the Bozeman MT area.
Since we weren’t impressed with the appearance of any of the tensioning hardware available at the time, we decided to create a tensioning system that we could hide inside of a hollow post.

The Story
The inspiration for what would become The Railing Loom first hit in 2007, when my brother Gary and I (as M Brothers Construction) were asked to build a cable railing for a very nice custom home in the Bozeman MT area.
Since we weren’t impressed with the appearance of any of the tensioning hardware available at the time, we decided to create a tensioning system that we could hide inside of a hollow post.
Worth the Effort
The result was what appeared to be an endless cable system.
It turned out amazing, but required a ridiculous amount of labor to create.
But, the project inspired this thought; “perhaps the tensioning system could be exposed, and turned into a feature.”

EXPOSED TENSIONING SYSTEM
The opportunity to explore the idea came on a deck with a relatively modest budget. The result was effective, but appeared quite industrial and a little unrefined. However, the Railing Loom was birthed, and made its first appearance.
THE EVOLUTION BEGINS!
The next generation was a huge aesthetic improvement, and performed extremely well, but was not very versatile and was difficult to fabricate and install.

The next (and current) evolution has become The Railing Loom that we know today: An extremely versatile system that is elegant, durable, and easy to install!
